TÜV Rheinland inaugurates new PV cell testing center

TÜV Rheinland has officially inaugurated its new PV Cell Testing Center in Shanghai, designed to uphold the principles of precision, scientific rigor, and impartiality. The facility is said to be equipped with advanced tools, including state-of-the-art LED solar simulators, quantum efficiency (QE) measurement systems, and high-precision temperature-controlled irradiance chambers.

The center is fully compliant with key international testing standards such as IEC 60904 and IEC 63202, and is capable of supporting both standardized and customized testing for emerging PV technologies and innovative products. TÜV Rheinland says the facility is intended to serve as a technical backbone for quality assurance in the next generation of solar cell development.

DAS Solar and UtmoLight jointly launch perovskite/TOPCon tandem module

Solar PV manufacturer DAS Solar and perovskite maker UtmoLight have jointly launched a 4-terminal tandem module combining perovskite and TOPCon technologies. Branded as TSiP 2.0, the new module delivers a 26.8% conversion efficiency on a 2.82 m² module area.

The module uses DAS Solar's latest TOPCon 5.0 cell technology as the base, enhanced by advanced infrared light trapping techniques such as Polyfinger structures and nanostructured light traps. The front layer features a wide-bandgap, large-area semitransparent perovskite film that efficiently captures short-wavelength sunlight. Longer wavelengths pass through the perovskite layer and are absorbed by the underlying TOPCon 5.0 silicon cell, enabling optimized spectral utilization and high overall performance.

Recently, LONGi's proprietary large-area silicon-perovskite 2-terminal tandem solar cell reached a certified conversion efficiency of 33% on a 260.9 cm2 device (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Skyworth PV and TBEA enter strategic partnership

Skyworth PV, Skyworth Group's solar subsidiary, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with polysilicon and solar inverter manufacturer TBEA to pursue a multi-dimensional collaboration in supply chain integration, project development, operations & maintenance services, and carbon asset management.

Under the agreement, Skyworth PV and its affiliated companies will prioritize procurement of TBEA's core products, including inverters, energy storage systems (ESS) and cabinets, power conversion systems (PCS), energy-carbon management software, and static var generators (SVG). In return, TBEA will give purchasing priority to Skyworth PV's solar modules and mounting structures.

Last month, Skyworth PV started construction on its Smart PV Industrial Park Project in Guangming District, Shenzhen (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
